ABOUT NAWIRI

Nawiri Community is a community-based organization registered with the Department of Social Development, dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Kajiado County. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life by addressing the educational, emotional, social, and economic needs of those we serve, with social protection at the core of our efforts. We are committed to empowering communities through social protection and economic resilience, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Impact:


Nawiri’s programs have made significant strides in uplifting the community. In 2023, we established the Nawiri Education Centre to provide early childhood education to children who previously had to travel up to 10 kilometers daily to access schooling. Through our efforts, we've addressed critical issues like late school enrollment, truancy, and child labor. Programs and Services

Early Childhood Education

At the Nawiri Education Centre, we provide early childhood education to vulnerable children aged 3–5. This program not only offers a safe learning environment but also ensures that children from disadvantaged backgrounds receive the foundational education they need to thrive.

Advocacy

Nawiri is committed to advocating for social justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals. We work to safeguard children from abuse, child labor, and exploitation, and we actively promote policies that enhance social equity.

Economic Support

Our economic empowerment initiatives are dedicated to transforming communities by creating sustainable employment and income-generating opportunities for individuals, especially caregivers. We provide comprehensive training in essential business skills and basic financial management, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage and grow successful enterprises. To further support their journey to economic independence, we offer startup capital for launching small businesses such as soap making, domestic services, and other viable local ventures.
Additionally, we help individuals secure stable employment by connecting them to job opportunities that match their skills and interests. Through these linkages and referrals, we empower them to build a better future for themselves and their communities.

Social Support

Nawiri provides comprehensive social support to vulnerable children, including school fees, uniforms, counseling, and other vital interventions. Our programs are designed to keep children in school and help them overcome the social and economic challenges they face.
We partner with schools, existing community structures, and other organizations to identify children in need and support them with school fees, scholastic materials, counseling, and other essential services. Our interventions also extend to providing food, health care, and family support, ensuring a holistic approach to social protection that empowers children and their families to thrive.
